Launched by China Population Welfare Foundation, China Population Award have hosted by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, National Committee for Population and Family Planning, Department of Science and Technology, Personnel Department, China Family Planning Association. China Population Award aims to: to highly praise and reward the outstanding people of all circles and international friends who working for China population and family planning issue as well as relevant fields; to encourage people of all circles provided meritorious services for china population and family planning health developing; to encourage international friends keeping long term relationships that supporting China population and family planning works; to guide the whole society improving population awareness, establishing or implementing the scientific concepts of development, improving comprehensive management for population issue in relevant departments, social organizations; to control population growth; to maintain low stable birthrate; to enhance the population quality; to jointly create good circumstances i.e. population development with economics, society, resources, and environments; to contribute to building a well-off society in an all-round way, towards the magnificent goal of the socialist modernization.
China Population Welfare Foundation launched in 1993, it's the highest award in Population field in China. The awards consists of permanent individual awards i.e. three permanent sub-honors—Honorary Award, Performance Award, and Science & Technology Award. The Foundation awards prizes to the outstanding contributed people of all circles in social & natural science related to China population and family planning issue as well as relevant fields. And they win the cup, certification and awards. It presents every three years. These awards have been successfully hosted five times. In order to public praise the enterprises which contributes to the population fields, the contribution awards initiated from the 2nd China Population Award; and the 3rd China Population Award additional prized Honorary Award for international cooperation. Started from the 4th China Population Award, all winners’ awards increased from 20,000 RMB to 50,000 RMB.
