Approved by Science and Technology Department of China Population and Family Planning Association, our foundation initiated “Caring Women’s Health- general examinations of breast disease and health promotion” in 2002. In order to improve breast self-examination & breast awareness and health knowledge promotion for childbearing age women, relied on different levels of family planning technique services centers, activities provide breast examinations and healthy education for childbearing age women in family planning systems for free. Till the end of 2005, there were 1,976,000 childbearing age women accepted breast examinations in more than 500 towns or villages, in 67 counties or districts, in SiChuan, ShaanXi, HeBei, Chongqing, HuBei, JiangXi, LiaoNing provinces and municipalities. More than 3 million people participated in health knowledge promotion and educations. There were more than 3100 family planning local cadres trained in this activity, more than 300 million breast disease health brochures and 100,000 relevant VCD were spread out through activities. Breast cancers were found in 306 women in total through examinations. According to experts and family planning cadres suggestions, more than 90% patients with suspected breast cancer did further examinations in high-level hospital, and assessed the diagnostic accuracy of breast cancer disease. Activities obtained the precious recovering and healing time for patients, and reached the goal that earlier find diseases earlier cure.
